Speed Racing Update, June 15

On June 11, 2015, Oregon State Police Detectives arrested the two drivers involved in Tuesday’s fatal pedestrian crash near Pleasant Hill. According to Sergeant Andy Kenyon, the juveniles were arrested around 5PM on June 11, 2015 and lodged at Serbu Youth Detention Facility in Eugene. Arrested were two 17 year old males both of Springfield. Both were charged with Manslaughter in the 1st Degree, Reckless Driving and Recklessly Endangering. The incident occurred on June 9, 2015 when, according to witnesses, a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT were speed racing on Mathews Road. The drivers lost control of their vehicles and the Camaro struck VILETT which caused his death. The Camaro continued after striking VILETT and struck a tree.
