Campfire Restrictions in BLM Managed Recreation Sites, Aug. 19

In line with the recent increase in public use restrictions issued by Coos and Douglas Forest Protective Associations, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Coos Bay District reminds visitors of the campfire restrictions in BLM-managed recreation sites. These restrictions will be in place until the fire danger decreases. In the following recreation sites, open fires are prohibited, including campfires, charcoal fires, cooking fires and warming fires: • Loon Lake Campground; • East Shore Campground; • Park Creek Campground; • Sixes River Campground; • Smith River Falls Campground; • Vincent Creek Campground; • Bastendorff Beach; • North Spit. Campfires are allowed in designated fire rings at Edson Creek Campground. In all campgrounds, visitors may use cooking stoves with liquefied or bottled fuels. “We really appreciate everyone’s cooperation with these restrictions,” said Patty Burke, Coos Bay District Manager. “With firefighting resources stretched thin, we need to do everything we can to prevent any new fires from starting.”
