Road Closures for the Bay Area Fun Festival, Sept. 18

News release from CBPD. The Coos Bay Police Department would like to remind citizens of the upcoming Fun Festival-related road closures effective, Sept. 19th, 2015. Roads on the following routes will be closed during the times listed: ROADS CLOSED Saturday, Sept. 19th, 9:00 am – 11:30 am – THE PREFONTAINE MEMORIAL RUN ROUTE. The Run route begins at Anderson & 4th (at the Old Fire Department site) and continues West on Anderson – onto Central, then onto Ocean Blvd. – ending at Norman St. The route then returns back on Ocean – to Central – and turns South on 10th St. passing Blossom Gulch Elementary School – turning East onto Elrod St., then South on S. 9th St. The route ends at the Marshfield High School track. Side streets along the race route will also be affected. ROADS CLOSED Saturday, Sept. 19th, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm – FUN FESTIVAL PARADE ROUTE. Parade route begins at Golden & S. 4th St., heading North on S. 4th St. to Commercial Ave., East on Commercial Ave. to 2nd St. and then West onto Anderson Ave. From Anderson and 2nd, the parade will go South on S. 2nd St. where it will disband at S. 2nd St. and Elrod Ave. Surrounding streets in the downtown area will also be blocked to prevent traffic from entering the parade route. ROADS CLOSED Saturday, Sept. 19th, 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm – CRUZ THE COOS ROUTE. The Cruz route begins at Hall and S. 2nd St., heading North on S. 2nd St. to Anderson Ave., and goes one-block East and turns North onto N. 2nd St. to Commercial Ave. Head West on Commercial, South on 3rd. St., West on Anderson Ave., North on N. 4th St., turn Westbound again on Commercial, Southbound on N. 7th St., and Eastbound on Anderson Ave. At S. 4th St. head South to Elrod Ave. where you’ll turn East and proceed to where it ends at S. 2nd. All area residents and visitors should be aware that for the safety of the runners, parade participants and cruisers, all drivers will be prohibited from entry to these streets between the posted times, and will need to use alternate routes. Coos Bay Officers and will be posted throughout these events routes, and will be available to assist the public, redirecting them to alternate routes as needed. Parking enforcement will begin on Friday, September 18, 2015 in the downtown area. Please do not park where it is posted, “NO PARKING.” Vehicles could be subject to tow.
