Bandon Dunes/State Parks Deal Off, Oct. 1

The lack of sufficient groundwater and new federal requirements are behind the decision by the owner of Bandon Dunes to abandoned a proposed to purchase state park’s land south of Bandon for a new 27-hole golf course. Mike Keiser made the announcement through his KemperSports golf management company. Keiser had proposed purchasing 280-acres of the Bandon State Natural Area. The State Parks Commission approved the exchange which included a $2.5 million payment and 216-acres of land elsewhere on the coast. Keiser’s company already operates five golf course north of Bandon at Bandon Dunes.
