NW Natural’s (NYSE:NWN) Gas Assistance Program (GAP) raised more than $171,000 this year thanks to generous donations from customers, Meyer Memorial Trust and NW Natural shareholders. “Each winter, people in our community struggle to keep the heat on,” said Von Summers, NW Natural community affairs manager. “Our GAP program is here to help those low-income families with their natural gas payments when state and federal assistance runs out.” NW Natural started the GAP energy assistance program 33 years ago. Since that time, customers, private grants and company shareholders have donated nearly $5.7 million to keep thousands of people warm in the winter. The GAP year runs from October 1 to August 31. So the new year of giving has now started. NW Natural asks customers to continue joining shareholders in making donations to keep the program going strong. “NW Natural covers all administrative costs so that every dollar donated goes to local community action agencies who distribute the funds,” added Summers. The list of agencies and their counties includes: * Oregon Coast Community Action – Coos Bay.
