The Coos Bay Downtown Association (CBDA) will participate in the national Shop Small Saturday, November 28th from 10 am to 4 pm in downtown Coos Bay. They encourage local citizens to remember the small business community that moves the local economy. The CBDA has participated in Shop Small activities since it began in 2010. Local merchants and CBDA members have decorated their businesses for the holidays and will feature great deals for shoppers. Some merchants are also participating in the new Noggin along/Cider Walk! Purchase a mug featuring the historic downtown logo at Bay Appliance, or show them $75 dollars in receipts from downtown Coos Bay Businesses on purchases made since November 7th and receive your mug. Then visit 20 businesses in downtown, shop their stores and enjoy a cup of Nog or Cider. Special activities are also planned to help make holiday shopping easier and fun. The Z-Club will host gift wrapping at 2nd and Anderson. And, the Coos Art Museum will be open special hours from 10am to 4pm. They’ll be serving refreshments and hold a “Christmas Card-Making Class” from 10:30am-12:30pm. Shop Small Saturday is just one of the many events sponsored by the Coos Bay Downtown Association (CBDA) that is part of the national Main Street Program. The program leverages community assets to generate investment, create jobs, and foster the rehabilitation of downtown. The CBDA works closely with its members, downtown businesses, and local organizations to strengthen existing business, to expand opportunities for new businesses, and to plan events and activities that improve the quality of life in downtown Coos Bay.
