Plum Creek Grant Supports 2016 Biennial Student Art Exhibit, Dec. 16

Plum Creek Foundation is contributing a $2,500 grant to support the Coos Art Museum’s 2016 Biennial Student Art Exhibit. Almost 1,000 pieces of art created by pre-K through 12th grade students will be on display from Feb. 26-April 9, 2016. Working with teachers, students and families within Coos, Curry and western Douglas counties, the Coos Art Museum presents the popular exhibit annually to support arts education in the South Coast Education Services District. “The main goal of our exhibition is to encourage young artists and recognize their artistic expression,” says Steven Broocks, the museum’s executive director. “This exhibit showcases the creative talents of young artists in our community and encourages residents to seek out cultural resources and opportunities for their families.” Through its collections, exhibitions and education programs, the Coos Art Museum on Oregon’s Southern Coast promotes the appreciation, understanding and expression of visual art. During the student exhibit, museum admission is free, and the museum will host an opening reception for the young artists, their families and teachers, and the community.
