A couple of earthquakes shook the southern end of two fault lines that run parallel with the Oregon Coast early Thursday morning, Jan. 7. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 2.7-magnitude quake was recorded at 2:32 a.m. and was located 39-miles south to southwest of Eureka, CA. Earlier, Wednesday night, 9:49 p.m., a 4.3-magnitude quake shook the same Cape Mendocino area, 37-miles south to southwest of the Humboldt Co. Seat.
