Marshfield won both of its games at the boy’s Far West League/Skyline Conference two-day Crossover Tournament at Phoenix High School in Southern Oregon Friday and Saturday. North Bend got a split. The Pirates, who moved into the OSAA 4A Power Rankings’ top spot, beat Mazama Friday72-64, and on Saturday, Marshfield (12-2) handed Hidden Valley (12-1) its first loss of the season 44-40. North Bend (3-7) beat Henley 36-32 Friday, but lost 35-33 to North Valley on Saturday. Both teams open Far West League play on Friday, Jan. 15. North Bend will travel to Douglas and Marshfield hosts Brookings-Harbor. The Far West League and Skyline Conference split games on Friday 3-3, but on Saturday, the Skyline Conference went 5-1 to win the Crossover Tourney 8-4.

Both North Bend and Marshfield won their games at the girl’s Far West League/Skyline Conference two-day Crossover Tournament at Douglas High School near Winston Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs beat Hidden Valley Friday 54-45, while the Pirates downed North Valley 44-24. On Saturday, Marshfield beat Hidden Valley 53-25, and North Bend won 58-21 over North Valley. The FWL went 4-2 on Saturday to win the head-to-head league battle 7-5. The Bulldogs (8-3) and Pirates (9-5) open FWL counting games Friday. North Bend travels to Douglas and Marshfield hosts Brookings-Harbor.

Marshfield overwhelmed visiting Junction City in a prep dual swim meet at the Mingus Park Pool in Coos Bay Friday. The Lady Pirates won 148-7 and the boys prevailed 139-20. MHS Girls: 200MR – 1.
