Promise Video, March 1

A new video highlighting the Tillamook School District’s natural resources program debuted today on “The Promise of Oregon” website at www.promiseoregon.org. The program, which began in 2004, gives students multiple opportunities each year to experience learning in an outdoor setting. Through partnerships with local businesses, students learn about forestry and watershed issues, and more. The video can also be seen on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP41jhupGxo The Tillamook video is the second of four planned videos showcasing cutting-edge programs — science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), career and technical education (CTE), the arts and more. The videos encourage schools and the public to “dream bigger” about what is possible in Oregon’s schools. The “Promise” campaign, which is being run by the Oregon School Boards Association (OSBA), aims to create a groundswell of public support for K-14 education, in hopes of meeting Oregon’s 40-40-20 goals and lifting student achievement and graduation rates. OSBA is a member services organization for more than 200 locally elected boards serving school districts, education service districts and community colleges. It also provides services to charter schools and their boards.
