News release from the Douglas Co. Sheriff’s Office. **UPDATE** – Sheriff’s Detectives have charged Joshua Fugate with First Degree Assault in connection with the assault on Lari Fugate that occurred on February 24th. Lari Fugate remains hospitalized in serious condition. **PREVIOUS RELEASE** – On February 24th, at about 2:45 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported assault at 101 Pleasant Street, Roseburg. When deputies arrived they found 46 year old Lari Fugate who had been severely beaten, suffering head and facial injuries. Deputies identified 28 year old Joshua James Fugate, Lari’s son, as the suspect and took him into custody at the residence. Lari was transported to Mercy Medical Center and then transferred to Sacred Heart RiverBend. She is currently in critical condition. Joshua Fugate has been lodged in the county jail on probation violation charges. Further charges relating to the assault are pending.
