On Saturday March 12, 2016, at about 0907 hours, the Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a single vehicle roll over accident in front of 3217 Highway 99 South, Roseburg (across from the old Lindy’s). The vehicle was reported to have hit a light pole with two occupants trapped inside the vehicle. A 1996 Jeep Cherokee operated by Jonathon McKenna, age 31 of Winston, had been south bound on Highway 99 South when the vehicle veered off the roadway onto the gravel shoulder. The vehicle hit a driveway and went airborne and crashed into a light pole. McKenna and his passenger, Chad Boak, age 37 (unknown city), had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both subjects were transported to Mercy Medical Center. McKenna was treated and released and Boak was transferred to Sacred Heart River Bend with serious injuries. The investigation is continuing. The Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate a witness to this accident. A subject by the name of Steve was on scene and told other bystanders that he had been passed by this vehicle and witnessed the crash. Steve left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
