The Oregon women’s basketball team drained 14 three-pointers as they won 84-76 over Long Beach State Thursday night at Matthew Knight Arena in the opening round of the Women’s National Invitational Tournament. The Ducks (21-10) will host the winner of Fresno State and Santa Clara on Monday night at 6 p.m. in Matthew Knight Arena.

The No. 6/6 Oregon State women’s basketball team (28-4, 16-2 Pac-12) opens the NCAA Tournament this week, as the Beavers play host to Sun Belt Champion Troy (20-12, 12-8 Sun Belt) Friday at 2 p.m. The game will be carried live on ESPN2.

Oregon and Holy Cross tip it off Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, it’ll have been less than 48 hours since the matchup was finalized. The Crusaders had to survive a play-in game Wednesday in Dayton, Ohio, then fly that night to the Pacific Northwest. Not knowing if his team would face Holy Cross (15-19) or its opponent Wednesday, Southern, UO coach Dana Altman had only introduced his team to a few basic concepts about the Crusaders beforehand. It wasn’t until Thursday that the West Region’s top-seeded Ducks (28-6) spent a practice preparing specifically for their game against Holy Cross on Friday (4:27 p.m., truTV). Oregon held an open practice session at the game’s site, Spokane Arena, then headed to a local high school for a more intense review of the Crusaders.

No. 7-seed Oregon State (19-12, 9-9 Pac-12) will face the No. 10-seed VCU Rams (24-10, 14-4 Atlantic 10) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at 10:30 a.m. PT (12:30 p.m. CT) on Friday at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla. The game will be televised on TNT.
