Community based groups and individuals are invited to join Coos Bay Mayor Shoji and North Bend Mayor Wetherell in a “Walk with the Mayor” in the Memorial Day Parade being held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Those who would like to show their respect and honor Americans who have sacrificed their life while serving our Country are encouraged to join Mayor Shoji and Mayor Wetherell. Citizens are asked to wear red, white, and blue as a patriotic symbol of hope, and are encouraged to carry fresh greenery and/or flowers from their yards. The parade route starts at 4th Street and Golden Avenue and ends at 2nd Street and Golden Avenue. The length of the parade is almost one mile. The staging area will be at 4th Street and Golden Avenue, and anyone who would like to join in the “Walk with the Mayor” with Mayor Shoji and Mayor Wetherell are asked to be at the staging area no later than 10:45 a.m. All other entries driving in the parade are required to be at their staging areas at 10:30 a.m. due road closure to through traffic.
