Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO), July 25

News release City of Coos Bay. The City received a phone call from a concerned citizen Friday morning, July 22, 2016. The citizen reported foam escaping from a sanitary sewer manhole located along North 8th Street between Underwood and Teakwood Avenue. The City’s Collection Crew (CH2M) went on site immediately after notification and did not observe any foam, but they did observe a discoloration on the asphalt. The Collection Crew is currently investigating to determine the source of the foam. While the SSO was reported to Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, Oregon Emergency Response System and Oregon Department of Agriculture, the amount that was reported as spilled were zero gallons and no receiving water was impacted adversely. Once a determination as to whom the source of the foam belongs to, the City will work with the property owner to remedy this situation.
