Murder Charge in Douglas Co., Aug. 15

On Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at about 1438 hours, Douglas County Communications received a 911 call from the residents of 185 Surprise Avenue, Myrtle Creek, Oregon advising that a subject had been stabbed there. Upon arrival, first responders found Chris A. Bell, age 41 of Myrtle Creek, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Initial medical interventions by EMT’s were unsuccessful and Bell was declared deceased at the scene. Responding Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office learned from persons at the residence that Gunnar D. Vachon, age 22 of Myrtle Creek, had left the scene after the stabbing in an unknown direction. Vachon was located nearby a short time later by Deputies and detained without incident. After Detectives spoke with Vachon, he was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on a charge of Murder.
