A 42-year old Vancouver, WA woman pled guilty Wednesday, August 17, in a Clatsop Co. court in Astoria to drowning her two-year old daughter and slashing the throat of her 13-year old daughter July 31, 2014 in Cannon Beach. The teen survived. The sisters were found by hotel staff the next day. Smith was taken into custody Aug. 3rd about 15-miles east of the coastal community. She claimed she took the girls to the North Coast because she and her daughters were afraid of her ex-husband.
