Central Coast Fire, Sept. 6

Newport Fire Department was dispatched at 05:03 this morning to a reported structure fire on the 100 block of NW 6th Street. The first arriving fire unit reported a fully involved mobile home in a residential mobile home park. The mobile home on fire was adjacent to exposed structures approximately six feet away. The mobile home was a complete loss but the exposures each side received only minor damage. Firefighters were on scene until about 08:00 AM conducting mop-up operations. Newport Fire Department responded with 2 fire engines, a heavy rescue, several utility vehicles, and 14 personnel. Seal Rock and Depoe Bay Fire Departments responded to the scene each with an engine and crew, and Seal Rock provided a Chief Officer and command rig. Neighboring departments provided a total of 8 personnel to help fight this fire. Newport Police Department, Central Lincoln PUD and Pacific West Ambulance assisted on scene. The mobile home itself was not occupied but some nearby structures were temporarily evacuated. There were no injuries and no one was displaced by this fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
