Star of Hope Executive Director Retiring, Sept. 16

Star of Hope Board of Directors announces the retirement of Dr. Gerald Miller, effective September 30, 2016. As we say our farewells, and best wishes, we would like to take this time to talk about the person who has been the driving force behind Star of Hope for the past 14 years. His guidance has made Star of Hope a leader in Intellectual and Developmental Disability Services, not only in our community, but in the State of Oregon as well. The Star of Hope went from a place of “hope”, to a place of “Growth, Opportunity & Independence”. Over the past 14 years, Dr. Miller and his team, with the approval of the Board of Director’s, have expanded our residential program to include 9 group homes. These homes support a multitude of unique individuals experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities. Dr. Miller also recognized that we needed to create unique and rewarding work opportunities for individuals. In January of 2006, through careful and thoughtful planning, Star of Hope purchased the Oregon Connection/House of Myrtlewood. Star of Hope has over 165 employees, that is double what we had 10 years ago. So as we celebrate Dr. Miller’s accomplishments and leadership, we would like to invite you to come, on September 16, 2016 from 11am-2pm, to the Oregon Connection / House of Myrtlewood and wish him well on his retirement and the next chapter of his life.
