Public Use Restrictions Lower, Oct. 4

Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) is lowering fire prevention restrictions for the general public on all private, county, state and BLM lands in Coos, Curry, and western Douglas counties. With wetting rain being received across southern Oregon, fire danger levels have decreased prompting a lowering of public use restrictions. Fire season is still in effect and outdoor debris burning is still prohibited. The following is a list of the Public Use Restrictions still in effect: 1. Smoking is prohibited while traveling, except within enclosed vehicles or at designated locations. 2. Open fires are prohibited, including campfires, charcoal fires, cooking fires and warming fires, except at designated locations and below the high tide line at beaches. Portable cooking stoves using liquefied or bottled fuels are allowed. 3. Use of fireworks is prohibited. Under Oregon law, the following are prohibited during fire season: 1. Sky Lanterns; 2. Exploding Targets; 3.    Tracer Ammunition or any bullet with a pyrotechnic charge in its base. CFPA cautions hunters and outdoor enthusiasts that fire danger levels can change quickly with windy and sunny conditions so please keep fire prevention a priority when outdoors. For specific landowner fire prevention requirements, contact the landowner directly.
