Southwestern Oregon’s cross country teams competed in the NWAC Southern Regional at Oregon City on Saturday. The Laker men were seventh behind champion Lane and runners-up Clackamas. William Owens (28:58.2) led SWOCC with a 40th place finish on the 8K course. He was followed by: 43 Braden Walters 30:19.7; 44 Colby Gillett 30:41.1; 45 Cole Kreutzer 20:56.1; 48 Dallin Mortenson 31:34.7; 50 Niall Meeks 32:08.8; 53 Cody Harkins 35:06.8; 55 Joseph Dawes 39:25.0. The women’s team ran incomplete on the 5K course also won by Lane. SWOCC women: 21 Brenna Mariscal 22:09.4; 22 Nikkol Ortiz 22:11.026 YKiMei Kerr 22:23.7; 34 Emily Rose 27:21.1. The volleyball team fell at home to Clackamas Friday, 3-2. On Saturday, Southwestern lost to visiting Chemeketa 3-1. The Lakers (3-7, 15-15) next play Friday, Nov. 4, at Lane in Eugene. The men’s soccer team tied Portland Saturday, 1-1 to end the regular season (0-14-1, 0-17-2). Portland also won the women’s match, 3-2. The women (6-6-0, 7-9-0) next play Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Everett, WA (9-6-0, 11-7-0) in the NWAC playoffs.
