News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On October 31, 2016, at about 6:13 AM, a deputy from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 1200 Rainbow Drive in Lakeside in response to a report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was found that an unattached shed had been burglarized with property removed from it and staged in the driveway. Additionally, a back window had been broken out. The homeowner, Ralph Leiby, had confronted a male in front of the house who had brandished brass knuckles and threatened to hit him with them. As the deputy was taking the report, the male returned and was found on a property across the street. The man was taken into custody. The brass knuckles were concealed in the man’s right rear pocket. The man was identified as William McClure. McClure was arrested for Burglary II, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon, Criminal Mischief II and Menacing. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oregon State Police.
