Southern Oregon Shooting, Nov. 14

Update:  Two more suspects have been arrested in relation to this investigation. On November 8, 2016 the below listed individuals were arrested by the Burbank Police on unrelated charges. On November 10, 2016 an Oregon arrest warrant was served on them while in custody for the following charges: Nicholas SCARNECHIA, age 26, of Castaic, California – Murder, Robbery I, Robbery II, and Burglary I; Kacey Ann BRUNSON, age 25, of Castaic, California – Robbery I, Robbery II, and Burglary I. Previous release:  OSP Detectives are continuing the investigation into last week’s shooting death of a man in O’Brien, OR. Detectives established Lieth Samir MOHAMMAD, 29, of North Hollywood, California, was a person of interest. On November 8, 2016 the Burbank, California Police Department arrested MOHAMMAD on an unrelated charge and is currently being held in the Los Angeles County Jail. On November 10, 2016 an Oregon arrest warrant was served on MOHAMMAD while he was in custody on the following charges relating to the November 4th incident: Initial Release:  On November 4th, 2016, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a male who had been shot at 595 Waldo Road in O’Brien. Upon arrival of the sheriff’s deputies, it was confirmed that the male was deceased due to a gunshot wound. The Josephine County Major Crime Response Team was requested to respond and assume the investigation. The investigation is being led by the Oregon State Police Major Crime Division. The deceased male has been identified as Jason A GEORGE, 25 years of age. George is originally from North Carolina however has been residing in the Cave Junction area for the last couple of years. The investigation is an active homicide investigation and the suspect(s) are still outstanding.
