Teens Threatened with Male Wielding a Gun, Nov. 28

Junction City Police officers, assisted by Lane County Sheriff’s deputies, captured a man who was armed with a loaded pistol who had threatened five teenaged boys and physically assaulted three – strangling one of them, late Saturday night, November 26, 2016. At approximately 11:27 p.m. officers responded to a report of a dispute involving a firearm. The five victim juveniles reported a man, later identified as David Glenn McCall, pointed a firearm at each of them. Some of the victims stated McCall actually pointed the gun directly at their heads – one even added that McCall had held the barrel of the pistol directly on his head. One of the juveniles stated McCall used his hands to strangle him which caused the victim’s airway to be restricted. Another of the juveniles stated McCall hit him in the groin area, and a third said McCall struck him in the face. All juveniles were safely returned to the care of their parents. McCall, DOB 6/8/70, was located a short time later at which time a loaded .40 caliber pistol was found inside the pocket of the jacket McCall was wearing. McCall was taken into custody without incident and was lodged at the Lane County Jail on the following charges: Pointing a Firearm at Another – 5 Counts; Menacing – 5 Counts; Assault in the Second Degree – 1 Count; Strangulation – 1 Count; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm – 1 Count; Unlawful Use of a Weapon – 1 Count.  “The quick thinking and ability of victims to remain calm, not further provoke their attacker, and their decision to immediately call 911 played a key role in saving their lives.”
