Wastewater Treatment Plant in Empire – December 24, 2016, Dec. 26

The City of Coos Bay’s Wastewater Treatment Plant in Empire is currently discharging effluent that has fecal limits that exceed the plant’s Department of Environmental Quality permit.  The City has operators at the plant diagnosing the problem and monitoring the fecal limits.  The Oregon Emergency Resposne System (OERS) has been notified. The City is aware that the Empire Treatment Plant is aged and past its useful life and broke ground on November 21st, 2016 on a new treatment plant that is expected to serve the Empire area for many years.  Any questions can be directed to Public Works at 541-269-8918.
