Bomb Threat at JCHS, Feb. 27

At 6:47 PM, on Friday February 24th, Junction City Police received a report from a custodian at the Junction City High School reporting she found a note indicating a bomb was going to detonate at midnight. Junction City Police responded to the High School and established a safety perimeter around the school and adjacent streets were closed to traffic. Residences on the east side of Maple St. south of 6th St. were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Officers from the Eugene Police Department Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Unit conducted a search of the building but were unable to locate any suspicious devices. The building was declared safe at 9:21 PM at which time streets were reopened and all evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes. The Junction City Fire Department, Lane Fire Authority, and the Junction City Public Works crew responded and remained on-scene to provide any needed assistance throughout the duration of the incident.  The investigation into the origin and author(s) of the note is ongoing. The review of school video logs will hopefully provide additional investigative leads. Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact the Junction City Police Department at 541-998-1245.
