Marshfield hosts North Valley in a 4A boys’ basketball state playoff game Saturday, 4 p.m., at the Pirate Palace. The winner will advance to the OSAA 4A State Tournament in Corvallis next week.
3A Tourney
The first round of the OSAA 3A State Basketball Tournament took place on Thursday at both Marshfield and North Bend high schools. The girl’s bracket opened at North Bend with Vale downing Corbett 42-26; Willamina over St. Mary’s 43-38; Nyssa got by Glide 32-20 and Valley Catholic downed Creswell 70-51. The boys opened at Marshfield. Valley Catholic beat Creswell 53-36; Harrisburg upset Blanchet Catholic 64-58; Portland Adventist Academy snuck by Amity 46-45; and, De La Salle North Catholic over Cascade Christian 64-40. In boy’s consolation games this morning at NBHA, Creswell plays Blanchet Catholic at 9 a.m., and Amity takes on Cascade Christian at 10:45 a.m. In girl’s consolation play at MHS, Corbett vs. St. Mary’s at 9 a.m., and Creswell takes on Glide at 10:45 a.m. Championship semi-finals get underway this afternoon. All remaining games will be played at MHS. Girl’s bracket: at 1:30 p.m. Willamina and Vale; 6:30 p.m., Nyssa and Valley Catholic. Boy’s bracket: at 3:15 p.m., Portland Adventist Academy and De La Salle North Catholic; at 8:15 p.m., Harrisburg and Valley Catholic. Championship games are set for Saturday night at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
