Southwestern Oregon split a couple of NWAC baseball games with visiting Linn-Benton CC Saturday in Coos Bay. The Roadrunners took the opener 3-0, but the Lakers got the second game 3-0 (7). ON Sunday, LBCC won 5-2. Next up is at Mt. Hood on April 14. The Laker softball team was rained out with its games at home against Centralia. Next up is Mt. Hood on April 12 at Gresham.
Lakers win Prefontaine
Good weather helps the Southwestern Oregon Lakers have a great meet at the 7th Prefontaine Masters in Coos Bay Saturday. According to SWOCC Track Coach Dan Neal, Presley LeBlanc won the 200 Meter at 27.38 and was 2nd in the 100 at 12.98. Madison Rodriguez won the 400 at 1:04.84. the Women’s 4 X 100 Relay of Stormy Silver, Lexle Lofthouse, Presley LeBlanc and Aajua Brooks ran a 52.78 for first place. Story Silver won the Women’s High Jump at 5’ 0”; Lexie Lofthouse won the Long Jump with a 15’ 2 ¾ in jump. Savannah Thurman won the Discus at 118’ 00” with team mate Caley Trimble was 4th at 106’; Grace Herman was 2nd in Javelin at 117’ 3”. On the Men’s side Kuda Murasiranwa won the 100 in 11.18 and anchored the men’s winning 4 X 100 Relay of Cole George, Anson Canencia, Bryan Hunt and Kuda Murasiranwa with a time of 45.25. Drae Stark had a great day winning the 110 Hurdles in 15.85. Stark was also being the first of two Men’s Long Jumpers to break the stadium record. Stark jumped a personal best of 22’ 3 ¾ “but Jaron Barrow bested Stark by ¼ of an inch to win the event at 22’ 4”. Teammate Cole Kreutzer was 3rd at 21 feet even. Stark also tied teammate Cole Kreutzer for 2nd in the Triple Jump at 43’ 5”. Lincoln Newdall was 2nd in Discus at 135’ 2” and 2nd in the Shot Put at 43’ ¼ “. Kiante Davis won the Javelin at 159’ 0”. Mike Mitchell won the High Jump at 5; 10” and Luke Elliott was 2nd at 5’8”.
