Pirate Games Moved
Marshfield’s Far West League softball and baseball games scheduled for Thursday with Douglas have been moved to Wednesday, same times, because of concern over the weather.

Marshfield moved within one game of third place in the 4A Far West League with two remaining after downing visiting Douglas 11-0 (5) Monday at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay.  The Lady Pirates (7-6, 13-9) and Trojans (8-5, 9-11) end the season together with a doubleheader in Winston Wednesday (3 & 5 pm). North Bend is in second place after beating Siuslaw 14-4 (6) in Florence and South Umpqua did the same to visiting Brookings-Harbor 14-4 (6).  The Lancers (11-2, 19-2) have clinched a tie for first place and can win the league title outright with a win against Brookings-Harbor (1-10, 5-13) Wednesday in Tri City.  North Bend (9-4, 15-7) can take second with a  sweep of Siuslaw (1-10, 4-16) Thursday at the Oak Street Park Fields.

North Bend clinched the 4A Far West League baseball championship with two games remaining following a 12-3 win over visiting Siuslaw Monday at Clyde Allen Field in North Bend.  The Bulldogs (11-2, 12-8) and Vikings (1-12, 1-19) end the season together in a doubleheader at Florence Thursday.  South Umpqua won at Brookings-Harbor 8-7 to remain tied for second with Douglas after the Trojans beat visiting Marshfield 9-4.  Douglas (8-5, 11-11) ends the season Wednesday at Marshfield (4-9, 5-13) in Coos Bay.  Fourth place Brookings-Harbor (7-6, 10-11) finishes at South Umpqua (8-5, 9-13).
