Area Kiwanis clubs from Florence, Coquille, Bandon and the Bay Area join forces to sponsor the annual Kiwanis Doernbecher Memorial Bicycle Tour on Saturday, May 20th at Sturdivant Park in Coquille. Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s Cancer Program (KDCCP) is a non-profit organization that raises money for advanced cancer treatment and research through activities and events run by volunteers. Helmets are required on the bike tour and all skill levels are welcome. There are two distances to choose from: 61 & 25 miles. There are no steep grades on any of the rides and all types of bicycles are welcome. How you can Help: Register Today! Submit your registration with payment by May 1, 2017 and receive a commemorative T-shirt the day of the ride. Recruit Others to Ride or Donate. Contact friends, neighbors, co-workers, relatives and business contacts and ask for their participation or support. Turn in Donations. Donations are not required but are strongly encouraged. Doernbecher Children’s Hospital serves as Oregon’s and SW Washington’s principal referral center for newly diagnosed cancer patients. Each year, children make nearly 200,000 visits to Doernbecher for care they cannot receive elsewhere.
