At 11:01 a.m. Junction City Police received a report of an injury traffic crash in front of 93668 Hwy 99S, in Junction City. Junction City Officer AJ Christensen arrived at 11:03 a.m. to find a Subaru Outback upside down on its roof that had sustained extensive damage, and the occupants were trapped inside. The second vehicle involved was a BMW SUV that had sustained only front-end damage. Officer Christen immediately began to render aid to the occupants of the Subaru, the driver of which was suffering from immediate life-threatening injuries. Junction City Fire Department arrived at 11:06 a.m. and Lane Fire Authority at 11:13 a.m. and assumed responsibility for patient care. Both occupants of the Subaru were transported to a local hospital, the driver with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the BMW was uninjured, was cooperative, and remained on-scene to assist with the investigation. The names of involved parties are not being released pending notification of the next of kin. The Oregon State Police traffic crash reconstruction team responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation since 99S is a state controlled highway. The southbound lanes of Hwy 99 were closed for approximately an hour and a half. The roadway was reopened at approximately 12:35 p.m.
