I-5 Fatal Douglas Co., July 3

On June 30, at approximately 9:30PM, OSP and medical personnel from Douglas County responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and commercial motor vehicle on Interstate 5 near milepost 123 in Douglas County. Preliminary investigation revealed that a white 2016 Kenworth CMV, operated by Zekah CROOK, age 36, of California was traveling southbound on Interstate 5 when a pedestrian, identified as Joshua WARD, age 21, of Roseburg ran from the shoulder and launched himself in from of the Kenworth. Joshua WARD sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene after lifesaving measures were made by EMS. WARD was released to Person’s Funeral Home and next of kin was notified.
