On July 1st, 2017 at approximately 7:38 AM, OSP and emergency personnel from Oakridge and Dexter responded to a head-on fatal motor vehicle crash on Highway 58 near milepost 29, near Oakridge. Preliminary investigation revealed that a gold 1999 Lexus Sedan, operated by Joseph Allan BOERSTE, age 45, of Oakridge was traveling eastbound on Highway 58 and while navigating a wide right hand corner crossed into the westbound lane. The Lexus collided head-on with a green 2001 Honda CRV traveling westbound on Highway 58, operated by Richard Linn MONTGOMERY, age 65, of Oakridge. MONTGOMERY suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene after lifesaving measures were performed by EMS. Joseph BOERSTE was transported by ambulance to Riverbend Hospital with serious injuries.
