A 32-year old Coos Bay woman received non-life threatening injuries Monday morning in a collision with a loaded log truck along Highway 241 near Allegany east of Coos Bay. One lane is still closed while ODOT coordinates removal of the loaded log truck that is partially off the highway and blocking one lane. According to Senior Trooper Jeff Smith, on March 24, 2014 at approximately 10:00 a.m., a 2003 Cadillac Deville driven by MELISSA J. LaRUE, age 32, from Coos Bay, was southbound on Highway 241 near milepost 15 when it crossed the centerline and struck a northbound 1988 Kenworth truck pulling a trailer loaded with logs driven by JAMES COOK, age 46, from Coos Bay. The truck came to rest over an embankment with the trailer stopping blocking one lane. LaRUE was transported by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. She was cited by OSP for Fail to Maintain a Lane of Travel. COOK was checked at the scene but refused transport to a hospital. Both drivers were using safety restraints.
