Shipwrecks of Coos & Curry Counties, Sept. 27

News release CBPL.  Coos Bay Public Library will be holding a FREE presentation. Local author and historian, H.S. Contino, will present highlights from her two books released by Arcadia Publishing: Shipwrecks of Coos County (2011) and her latest, Shipwrecks of Curry County (2017), before opening the floor to questions. Afterwards, Contino will be available to sell and sign her books. Event will be held Wednesday, September 27th at 6:30pm in the Coos Bay Library’s Myrtlewood Room and is open to all members of the public.  H.S. Contino gained her passion for history from her grandfather, who owned a small antiques store. She resides on the Oregon coast, where she spent five years as the research assistant at the Coos History Museum. Come learn more about the dangers of navigating South Coast waters such as the Coos Bay bar and the extreme weather that caused many Curry County shipwrecks.
