Winning Awards Announced for All Things Salmon Exhibition at Coos Art Museum, Nov. 7

In a special awards ceremony for the All Things Salmon exhibition, juror Dr. Deana Dartt announced her selection of prize winners in this nationwide all salmon themed art competition at Coos Art Museum. The All Things Salmon exhibition runs through December 9, 2017. The First Place Prize was awarded to Judith Sparks of Eugene, Oregon for her Mixed media on silk artwork, Salmon Flags. The Second Place was presented to Lonnie Hutson of Deary, Idaho for a Cast paper wall sculpture, Coho Salmon. Kathryn Damon-Dawson of Westlake, Oregon received the Third Place award for her Watercolor, Tsiltcoos Silvers. The three top prize awards are $1,000 for first place, $350 for second place and $250 for third place. Honorable Mention awards were also announced. The four Honorable Mention recipients are: Judi Betts of Baton Rouge, Louisiana for Captain’s Quarters, Watercolor; Karin Richardson of North Bend, Oregon for Salmon Legends / Riverbed / Watershed, Graphite, Latex, Stones; Sara L. Siggelkow of Newport, Oregon for All the Pieces, Hand – dyed book pages, maps and brown paper on copper; Terry Woodall of North Bend, Oregon for The Disconnect, Ironwood and Black Myrtle sculpture. The exhibitions juror, Dr. Deana Dartt, is former Curator of Native American Art at the Portland Art Museum and current Scholar-in-Residence at the School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
