News release BLM. The Coos Bay District of the Bureau of Land Management sold 3.2 million board feet of timber, worth $450,242.70, at an oral auction on November 17, 2017, as the BLM supports working landscapes across the West. Southport Forest Products of Coos Bay, Oregon was the high bidder for the Rooster Fish commercial thin timber sale. The timber is located on Coos Bay Wagon Road lands in Coos County. There was one other qualified bidder for the sale. Receipts from this timber sale are deposited into the Coos Bay Wagon Road grant fund. Money from this federal fund is used to pay an in-lieu of tax payment to Coos and Douglas Counties each year to compensate for the loss of tax revenue from federal lands.
