Slash Burning in Pony Creek Watershed, Nov. 30

News release City of Coos Bay.  The City of Coos Bay owns and manages timber land within the Pony Creek Watershed.  After a unit is logged, there is leftover wood residue and slash.  It is a recommended practice to use burning to dispose of this material to abate fire hazards. Because of weather and wind conditions, this activity is heavily regulated.  The City received permission to perform slash burning Wednesday morning, November 29, and may continue through to the end of the week.  As a result, smoke in and around the watershed may be observed.  Any questions can be directed to the City of Coos Bay Public Works Department at (541) 269-1181 ext. 2221.
