ODOT will host an open house for the Reedsport community on Thursday, Dec. 7, to share information about the upcoming Oregon 38: U.S. 101 to Dean Creek Paving and Pedestrian Improvements project. The open house is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Reedsport City Hall, 451 Winchester Ave. Visitors can drop by any time during the two-hour event. The open house will feature several displays and ODOT staff will be available to discuss the project. The displays and other information will be posted online next week at www.ReedsportHighways.com. The project will repave 5.9 miles of Oregon 38 (Umpqua Highway) from Reedsport to Dean Creek, convert a half-mile section of U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway) from four lanes to three between 16th Street and 22nd Street, and make several other safety and pedestrian improvements. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2018. Accommodations will be provided to persons with disabilities, and alternate formats of printed material are available upon request. For assistance, please call Christie Meacham at (541) 957-3698 or call statewide relay at 7-1-1 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
