Burglars Caught, Dec. 27

CCSO news release.  On December 20th, 2017 at approximately 10:20am, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an interrupted burglary. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center was given a brief description of the vehicle that had left the scene and a brief description of the two male subjects in the vehicle. While deputies were enroute to the residence a vehicle matching the description was spotted driving west bound on Highway 241, North Coos River. Deputies turned on the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle attempted to elude the Deputies and reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Deputies observed the vehicle go up a driveway at a high rate of speed. The suspects abandoned the vehicle on a Coos County community member’s lawn. Coos Bay Police initiated a K9 track. K9 Dak located Robert Joseph Perry, 47 years old, of Coos Bay, approximately a quarter of a mile from the vehicle in the bushes. Robert Perry surrendered and was taken into custody. Robert Perry admitted to being the driver of the vehicle. Robert Perry advised Deputies and Officers he dropped his partner off approximately a quarter of a mile south of his location. Robert Perry was found to be in possession of stolen property from the rural home incident to arrest. K9 Dak was re-deployed. Approximately an hour later Deputies and Officers took Michael Weathers, 36 years old, of Coos Bay, into custody. Michael Weathers was found to be in possession of stolen property from the rural home incident also. Robert Perry was transported to the Coos County Jail and booked on the charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Theft in the First Degree, Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree and a Parole Violation. Robert Perry’s bail was set at $170,000. Michael Weathers was transported to the Coos County Jail and booked on the charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Theft in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a Parole Violation and an outstanding Warrant for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Michael Weathers bail was set at $150,000. These arrests were made with the assistance of the North Bend Police Department, Coos Bay Police Department, the Oregon State Police and the Coquille Tribal Police Department.
