TRIO Program at Southwestern Hosts Car Wash & Bottle Drive Fundraiser, March 23

SWOCC release – Southwestern Oregon Community College’s TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Club will be holding a car wash and bottle drive March, 24, 2018 from 11 am – 2 pm.  Drop off your for-deposit bottles and bring your dirty vehicles to the First Community Credit Union in Coos Bay across from Fred Meyer. All donations go towards the TRIO SSS Club for cultural enrichment activities.  TRIO is a federally funded program that promotes and assists students transferring to a four-year university. TRIO students are low income, first generation, or students with a documented disability.  Many of these students have never had an opportunity to travel outside of Coos County.  Funds raised will provide students the opportunity to volunteer through a national volunteer organization to rebuild homes in communities devastated by natural disasters. The activities that occur with the SSS Club create student leaders and help them grow by networking, budgeting, interacting with the community, and creating a desire for civic leadership in their communities. For people’s convenience TRIO students are willing to pick bottles up as well.  Just email chloe.eberlein@socc.edu or call 541-888-7494.
