“Choices for Life” Course Offered, April 11

(Minor in Possession) Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Community Education Department will be offering “Choices for Life” (HS 0965 65) Minor in Possession course during spring term. This course provides valuable information regarding substance abuse, prevention, and early intervention. The information assists participants in understanding how their beliefs, decision making, and choices influence their lives. The course includes class discussions, videos, and handouts focusing on the addiction process and physical effects of marijuana and alcohol. The emphasis of the course consists of learning awareness tools useful in the process of decision making and how life stressors relate to marijuana and alcohol consumption. In addition, participants will learn about the impact underage drinking has on our society, and the legal implications of receiving a Minor in Possession (MIP) conviction regarding future academic scholarships and potential career opportunities.
