Meth & Gun Bust on Central Coast, April 30

On 4/25/2018 at approximately 1:20 AM, Deputy Parsons and Senior Deputy Carter with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a Honda Accord for a minor traffic violation near Highway 101 and NE 25th St., Newport. The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of Walmart where deputies contacted 23 year old Marcus Anthony West and 21 year old Destiny Rose Honer, both of Cottage Grove. Deputy Carter observed what appeared to be unusual behavior on the part of Destiny Honer while she was being contacted.  Further investigation revealed Honer had been attempting to conceal two shotguns between the driver and front passenger seats.  During the investigation deputies located 5.47 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, the two shotguns, and a several hundred dollars in cash. West and Honer were each taken into custody for unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. They were subsequently lodged at the Lincoln County Jail with bail set at $65,000.
