Douglas Co. Cracking Down on Seatbelts, May 3

If you’re not wearing a safety belt between May 14-27, 2018, there is a high liklihood you are going to be pulled over and receive a citation from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies have teamed up with the Oregon Department of Transportation and will be increasing seatbelt enforcement during the nearly two week crackdown. Funding for the increased patrols come from grant money distributed by the Oregon Department of Transportation. The focus of the campaign will be seatbelt enforcement during daytime and nighttime hours as well as minors riding in beds of pickups. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, in 2015, more than half of occupants involved in a traffic collision at night were not wearing safety belts.
