Airport Continues Efforts to Secure Portland Air Service, July 17

SORA release – On July 12th, the Small Communities Air Service Development Program (SCASDP), administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation, announced 15 grants to subsidize and market routes to underserved small airports. Southwest Oregon Regional Airport applied for $750,000 over three years to support a new route to Portland, after PenAir service was discontinued in August 2017. The airport was not selected to receive a grant during this cycle. The Coos County Airport District Board of Commissioners will meet on Thursday, July 19th to discuss alternative sources of funding to resume commercial air service to Portland.
