Albacore Commission Vacancy, July 25

Oregon Department of Agriculture, Director, Alexis Taylor appointed 61 Oregonians to the state’s 23 agricultural commodities commissions earlier this month. Applicants experience and commitment to service are a few factors considered when appointments are made. The new members began their terms on July 1, 2018 and their time on the various commissions will expire over the course of the next two-to-four years. “I want to sincerely thank all the people who came forward and volunteered to serve on the various commodity commissions,” said Director Taylor. “These commissions give farmers a voice. They are directly involved in the decisions of promotion, research and information sharing that is essential to keeping agriculture a vibrant, innovative and competitive industry.” Commodity commissions are primarily farmer, rancher or fish harvester-funded, established and run by these groups to meet their own industries’ needs. They have control of the assessment rates and decide how to spend their money for the greatest benefit to their industry. While most commissioner positions are full, six positions remain open and need to be filled as soon as possible. ODA is accepting applications. Coastal Open positions: Albacore Commission, 1 Producer. For more information about Oregon’s Commodity Commissions please visit oda.direct/Commissions The Application is also on this web page.
