The 18-year old driver of a vehicle that crashed into the Color Tile building on Broadway Ave. in North Bend early July 2 was arrested Friday afternoon, Aug. 17 on charges of Assault, Criminal Mischief, DUII, Reckless Endangering and Reckless Driving. Tyler Kirkpatrick, of Myrtle Point, was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille. He was the driver of the 2003 Toyota SUV that left the eastside of Broadway Ave. at 3:26 a.m., sheared a telephone pole and crashed into the entrance of the commercial building. There were four passengers in the vehicle, two boys and two girls ranging in age from 14 to 18. North Bend Fire personnel had to extricate them from the wreckage. All five were transported to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay. Three were life-flighted on to an advanced trauma center.
