CFPA release – Archery season begins on Saturday, August 25th. Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) urges hunters and other forest users to know the access and fire restrictions for the lands they plan to use. Fire danger is high and fuels are dry from lack of rain. Please make sure the landowners access are allowing use of their land and remember public use restrictions are in place to help prevent fires from starting. Make sure you have all your fire tools with you and that you follow all fire prevention guidelines. • Smoking is prohibited while traveling in forestland, except in vehicles on improved roads; • All open fires are prohibited, except at designated, hosted, and managed campgrounds; • Motor vehicles including motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs are only allowed on improved roads free of flammable vegetation; • Fire tools are required while traveling in forestlands, except on state highways, county roads, and driveways, 1 shovel, 1 axe or Pulaski, and 1 gallon of water or a 2.5 lb or larger ABC fire extinguisher.
