On Wednesday August 29, 2018, at approximately 2:12 AM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 126W near milepost 49 in an active construction zone. Preliminary investigation revealed that a black 1982 Chevrolet pick-up was stopped by a construction zone flagger, in an active construction zone. A silver 1998 Toyota 4Runner pulling a utility trailer was stopped behind the Chevrolet pick-up and a silver 1991 Toyota Tacoma was stopped behind the Toyota 4Runner and trailer. A silver Kia Rio operated by Cassidy Ann DeBlois, age 25, of Veneta, was traveling westbound and struck the rear of the stopped Toyota Tacoma. The impact was significant enough to push the Toyota Tacoma into the back of the Toyota 4Runner and trailer and the Toyota 4Runner was pushed into the back of the Chevrolet pick-up. The construction zone flagger was not struck. DeBlois was arrested for DUII, Reckless Driving, 5 counts of Reckless Endangering and Endangering a Highway Worker. DeBlois BAC was %0.17. DeBlois suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash. The operator of the Toyota 4Runner was identified as Kindra Adams, age 34, of Eugene, she was arrested for an outstanding warrant (FTA-DUII) and issued citations for DWS-Violation and Fail To Install Ignition Interlock Device. Highway 126W was closed for an hour and a half following the crash.
