The Oregon Office of Emergency Management would like to thank local, tribal, state, federal, media, private and non-profit partners for helping to make this year’s Great Oregon ShakeOut earthquake drill a success. The most ever, 672,623, Oregonians participated in this year’s drill! Rigler Elementary School in Portland was one of many schools in Oregon that learned about earthquakes and what to do during a quake. With help from their teachers, students throughout the state “Dropped, Covered, and Held On!” during the nation’s largest earthquake drill, “The Great ShakeOut” yesterday, Oct. 18, at 10:18 a.m. “As we build a culture of preparedness within our youth it’s going to benefit Oregonians for decades to come,” said Oregon Office of Emergency Management Director Andrew Phelps.
